I thought I had squared with the idea and accepted the loss of our family milk cow this past week. But this morning, I was taken totally by surprise by the fact there were still buckets of tears just beneath the surface.
It was just that difficult breaking the news to my son, who has been away from home since college started on Monday. The milk cows actually belong to Benjamin. You see,
Tinkerbelle was hands down, far and above, the most valuable animal on this ranch. Yes, we have one other well trained older milk cow. We also have two more younger part Jersey, but neither trained at all for hand milking. They have both only raised calves out in the main herd. So perhaps, those two might step up to take the place of the one which has left us too soon. RIP Tinkerbelle.
