This farmer's wife has been attempting to disk up the riding arena ever since last Wednesday. See all those weeds? It really needs disking! Wednesday was when Doug helped me attach the old John Deere tractor with loader on the front, to the small disk implement.
This not without many complications.
The task actually required a couple hours of running back and forth to garage, disconnecting the other tractor from the baler, then back again with sundry supplies. I also managed to douse my husband in a generous amount of hydraulic oil while exploring unfamiliar valve operation. But we did finally get everything attached right and moved to the arena.
Next day was a trip to town, day after that was a canning peaches day. (They were beginning to get fuzzy where fuzz did not belong!) Saturday was a set-up-the-new-computer day. And Sunday was a Sunday.
Anyway today, I started back into my arena grooming project. My knight in shining armor prepped the tractor for me (since he had been moved and used elsewhere since our Wednesday setup). Well, now a hydraulic hose broke, and, my lovely old tractor, with a loader on the front, has decided it will no longer shift into forward motion. My hero was looking discouraged and muttering threats of imminent retirement.
At least, the big red 4x4 tractor is behaving itself for him. I see they are farming up trails of dust out there right now. Aaron is stepping up to take over summer fallow responsibilities since Ben is back in school.
